Life lessons are principles that if you follow them you will lead a more enjoyable, fulfilled and successful life. Some are easier to live by than others and some will make a greater difference to your life than others. It’s up to you to find which ones would make the biggest difference to your life and to add the life lessons into your every day actions and thoughts.
1. Spend Less Time On Distractions
You can’t walk down the street without seeing someone looking down at their phone. Most people are constantly checking their social media accounts, apps and the internet because they are bored, when in actual fact checking these things is making them bored because they can’t fully concentrate on what they were doing in the first place.
You can’t get into any ‘flow’ or focus on the present moment if you are distracting yourself all the time. Turn off your phone and your other devices and concentrate on what’s in front of you.
2. Say No To Things You Don’t Want To Do
People find it so hard to say no to doing things they don’t want to do. Be strong and don’t get forced into doing things you don’t really want to do just because you think you have to. You don’t need an excuse to say no. Really. It sounds easy but it can be very hard due to social pressure and not wanting to let people down. Don’t make up excuses either. If you don’t want to do something just thank them for asking you but tell them you’re not interested in doing that.
If you’ve already agreed to doing something and you’ve now realised it’s not what you want to do anymore then you have to accept that you might be letting someone down. You have two options. The first is to go through with it. The second is to be honest and tell them it’s not what you want to do anymore. Either way learn from the experience and make sure you don’t put yourself in that position again.
3. Get Away From Negative People, No Matter Who They Are
People that put you down, are outwardly negative or make you unhappy aren’t worth your time. Do whatever you have to do to spend less time around them. There are plenty of ways to deal with negative people. If you want to achieve your goals and live a positive, happy life, giving your all, then you can’t afford to be around negative people. Life’s too short and also too long to be dragged down by other people.
4. You Get Out What You Put In
The more effort you put in and the harder you work the better you will do in any situation. It’s a simple equation. The more you focus on what you want and the more effort you put into the pursuit of it the more likely it is you’ll get it. Even if you don’t achieve it, you will become a better person along the way.
There are too many get rich quick schemes available today that blind people from the fact you have to put in hard work consistently to get what you want.
5. Helping Others Will Make You Happier
Ask somebody what you can do to help them and then do it if you can. It will make you happier. Helping other people will give your life more joy and purposefulness than ever before. It will make you feel proud of yourself and people will help you in return. You can make somebody’s day by helping them in even a small way.

6. Don’t Wait To Be Inspired, Work Hard And Inspire Yourself
During those times when you can’t seem to concentrate or you just don’t want to do the work you have to do the best thing to do is to do it with as much intensity and for as long as you can. You‘ll then be inspired by your own efforts which will lead to you doing more work. You can inspire yourself through your own hard work, you don’t have to wait for the perfect time or when you feel you’re in the zone.
7. You Should Always Be Planning For The Future
Time flies as you get older and if you don’t know where you want to be in the future, you’re not going to set yourself up for prosperity in the long term. Think about where you want to be in the future and make some goals and a plan to get there. You don’t have to plan out the rest of your life but it is important to know that what you’re doing now is helping to get you where you want to be in the future. Start saving more money and planning for the future.
8. Things That You Worry About Often Never Happen
They never happen or they’re not as bad as you thought they were going to be. Think about something you spent a lot of time worrying over that was actually worse than what you thought would happen. It doesn’t happen often. Our imaginations are very strong and can take control over our lives by obsessing on an event in the future.
Often we laugh about our old worries once the event has passed. Next time you’re worrying about something focus on how you will feel after you’ve done whatever it is and think about that instead of obsessing over your negative expectations.
9. Enjoy The Moment Because Time Really Does Fly
Hopefully you’ve noticed that time starts to go quicker as you get older. Especially when you’re just wishing it was the future already, be that the next weekend, or when the kids are older or when you can retire. Focus on being present in the moment and really experiencing everything you do.
One day you’ll wish you could be where you are right now. That’s an important life lesson to remember. Keep that in mind and really focus on what’s going on around you and enjoy it.
