Ternate Island in North Maluku Province has been my dream for a long time. The opportunity to work in North Maluku was a golden opportunity that I immediately welcomed with enthusiasm.
Although it was just a transit in Ternate before continuing my duties in other areas, I and several friends had the chance to visit one of the amazing natural attractions, namely Sulamadaha Beach.
This beach is a favorite destination in Ternate, known for its clear sea water that allows visitors to see the beauty of the underwater without having to dive too deep.
Here, let’s explore more deeply the charm of Sulamadaha Beach and what makes it an interesting natural tourist destination in Ternate.
Main Attraction of Sulamadaha Beach
1. The Beauty of Saomadaha Lagoon
Sulamadaha Beach has a lagoon area called Saomadaha. Located hidden behind coral rocks, this lagoon is one of the main attractions for visitors. Saomadaha is a saltwater lagoon separated by coral rocks and sand.
Here, the sea water forms a gradation of colors from turquoise, blue, to clear that is pleasing to the eye. The water is so calm that several boats can be seen floating on the surface, and the panorama of the seabed is clearly visible without having to dive.
The combination of clear water, green trees, and coral cliffs make Saomadaha a perfect location for photos and enjoying the beauty of nature.

Sulamadaha Beach offers a peaceful natural view with small waves, providing a comfortable atmosphere for visitors. From this beach, Hiri Island is visible which has a long history in the culture of the Ternate people.

Visitors can enjoy water activities along the beach by boat or try a banana boat. The atmosphere will be even more beautiful when night falls, because the gazebos around the beach are decorated with sparkling lights.
